Toradex launches the new Woodpecker product line at the Embedded System Conference 2008 in Boston, MA from October 26 – 30, booth #1105.
Woodpecker Z530 and Z510 are embedded Micro COM Express™ computer modules based on the Intel® Atom™ Z530 and Z510 processors and the Intel® System Controller Hub US15W.

The Intel® Atom™ Z530 processor runs at 1.6GHz and is designed for high performance computing with low power consumption. The low cost module Woodpecker Z510 features the Intel® Atom™ Z510 processor which runs at 1.1GHz.
Woodpecker Z530 offers two PCI Express x1 lanes, one PCI interface, and up to six High Speed USB ports for fast signal connectivity. One USB port can also be configured as USB client. The module features in the standard configuration a dual independent graphic output with SDVO and LVDS output ports, or alternatively a VGA and LVDS interface.
The Woodpecker boards provide a wide range of interfaces for mass storage devices. A master and slave PATA interface supports up to two IDE devices. Additionally, two SATA interfaces are available onboard. A microSD card slot is available on the module for convenient memory extension. A 30 pin FFC connector features two additional SDIO channels for SD cards, MMC cards, WLAN adaptors, Bluetooth adaptors, modems, IrDA adapters, RFID readers, or GPS modules.
The module is fully COM Express™ pin out type 2 compatible. Woodpecker can be used as a replacement for COM Express™ or ETXExpress® modules from other manufacturers.
Woodpecker is another aggressively priced computer module from Toradex. The price is 119 Euros (single unit) for the Woodpecker Z510 with 1.1 GHz and 169 Euros (single unit) for the Woodpecker Z530 with 1.6 GHz. Prices for higher quantities are openly listed on the company’s homepage. Samples will be available end of October.
