New addition: Oak USB Sensor

The Oak Orientation sensor combines a digital 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis magnetometer into a single package. The sensor has a linear acceleration full-scale of ±2g / ±4g / ±8g and a magnetic field full-scale of ±1.3 / ±1.9 / ±2.5 / ±4.0 / ±4.7 / ±5.6 / ±8.1 gauss, both fully selectable by the user.

Applications range from compensated compassing, display orientation and motion-activated functions, through to gaming and virtual reality input devices, impact recognition and logging, as well as vibration monitoring.

Process the Oak USB Sensor data in the recently launched Oak Studio acquisition tool from Toradex. With this freely available tool, real-time data can be viewed either in graphical or tabular form, can be paused for intermediate review or be exported in CSV format for further analysis and storage.

Completely wireless: Elm ZigBee Sensors

The Elm ZigBee Sensor product family combines the cost and performance advantage of highly integrated precision sensors with the ZigBee PRO Feature Set; the only standards-based wireless technology designed to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless sensor and control networks in just about any market.

Elm ZigBee Sensors consist of a compact main board with ZigBee Pro interface that is combined with a variety of different add-on boards each with a specific sensor type. First add-on boards feature atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, temperature and distance sensors as well as a UART interface. The Elm ZigBee Sensors can communicate with, for example, the Telegesis ETRX2USB stick or even with the UART interface add-on board when used as coordinator. Power is supplied by a button type battery or optionally through an external power supply.

Monitoring and processing the Elm ZigBee Sensor data can be easily done with the dedicated Elm Studio acquisition tool from Toradex. With this freely available tool, sensor data can be viewed either in graphical or tabular form, can be paused for intermediate review or be exported in CSV format for further analysis and storage. In addition, sensor settings like MAC address, ZigBee channel, sensor name and sample rate can be changed remotely.

Running for the MS Society at London Marathon

Run Bryony Run!
Support Bryony’s fundraising for the MS Society at London Marathon.

Bryony, who is working as an accountant for Toradex in Switzerland, has been talking about running the London Marathon for several years. Finally, she has decided to do something about it!

For Bryony, it’s “the taking part that counts”. And she has chosen to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society because she has seen first hand what a fantastic organisation the MS Society is. According to Bryony, “they are an enormous support to so many in need.”
